Trauma Therapy

Healing trauma means helping your nervous system learn it can settle, not forcing it to forget.

Every person is different, but the work tends to move through three broad stages: finding safety, making sense of what is held, and re-connecting with yourself and others. We go back and forth between them as needed.

Threads I weave together

I rarely use one technique on its own. Physiotherapy and manual therapy, movement, craniosacral and fascial work, acupuncture, Somatic Experiencing, NeuroAffective Touch, EMDR and conversation blend through a session as it unfolds. You do not need to choose one, or book for one. Come as you are, and we will find the way together.

How long does trauma therapy take?

There is no standard answer. Some people gain what they need in a few sessions. Complex or early trauma usually takes longer, often months. We review regularly.

Is trauma therapy safe?

Done badly, trauma work can overwhelm people. That is why I put safety and pacing first, and why you can stop at any moment. If I think you need a different kind of support first, I will say so.

Is trauma therapy safe?

It is not a quick fix, and it is not about reliving the worst moments. We go at your pace, and we stop when you ask.

Somatic therapy and Experiencing

Felt experience in the physical body, and helping the body complete the protective responses it could not finish at the time.

NeuroAffective Touch

One thread in a blended way of working.

Relational and somatic relationship therapy

You understand the pattern. You still end up in it. Trust, closeness and touch can be rebuilt, slowly and on your terms.

Frequently asked Questions

It is the process of helping the body and nervous system recover from the lasting effects of overwhelming or prolonged stress, at a pace that is safe.

Somatic Experiencing, NeuroAffective Touch, EMDR and skilled, consented touch, chosen to suit you.

You do not need to choose. Come and describe what is going on, and Rodger blends what is needed as you go.

A space for your healing journey

Whilst I recognise that your system may not “feel” safe – I recognise that and work with it in the session and, over time, create  a space in which you can feel an ever increasing sense of internalised safety.

Rodger Duckworth sees clients at The Grange Health in Wokingham, Berkshire, and works with people from Wokingham, Reading, Bracknell, Crowthorne, Finchampstead, Winnersh, Binfield, Swallowfield, Hurst, Twyford, Henley-on-Thames, Sonning and the surrounding area.
